The Jagadguru ferried reverentially in a decorated country boat from Ulluru to Hattikuduru for the Kumbhabhisheka of Vinayaka Devasthana

On the evening of 24th May 2014, Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahaswamiji started from Sringeri by 3:45PM and reached Ullur Sri Karthikeya Subrahmanya Swami Devasthana in Kundapura Taluk of Udipi district for performing Kumbhabhisheka the following day. The Jagadguru arrived at Ullur to a devout welcome offered by the huge number of devotees of Kundapura Taluk. After Dhuli Padapuja, the Dharmadhikari of Kundapura Dr. H.V.Narasimhamurthy led the Guruvandana Sabha and read out the Abhinandana Patra that was submitted at the Lotus Feet of the Jagadguru Mahaswamiji. The Jagadguru Mahaswamiji then blessed the devotees with an Anugraha Bhashana and Phala Mantrakshata immediately after the Sabha. The Jagadguru explained that in Sanatana Dharma, we believe in the existence of a Supreme power that is responsible for the creation, sustenance and annihilation of the Universe, and for ensuring that we get the results of our actions. We must realize that we worship the Lord for our own good. Hence it is essential to cultivate devotion to the Lord. We must never see differences in the names and forms of the Lord. It was with this sense that Sri Adi Shankaracharya wrote hymns on various forms of the Lord. We must have the habit of reading these Stotras for sometime every day. The Jagadguru told that He had come to Ullur fourteen years ago for the inauguration of the Mahadvaram and had come now for dedicating a newly built stone structure constructed around the Sanctum Sanctorum of Lord Karthikeya Subrahmanya. The Jagadguru blessed one and all assembled to worship the Lord and attain Shreyas. Later the Jagadguru performed the regular Sri Chandramoulishwara Puja in the decorated Mantapam inside the temple premises itself.
The next day morning, the Jagadguru performed elaborate Puja, Brahma Kumbhabhisheka and PunaH Pratishtha of Lord Karthikeya Subrahmanya and blessed the president Sri Subraya Udupa, Archaka and staff of the Devasthana.
The Jagadguru had Darshan of Lord Mahatobhara Sri Mahalingeshwara Swami at Basrur , Kundapura taluk, Udupi district.

Then the Jagadguru was ferried reverentially in a decorated country boat from Ulluru to the sylvan Hattikuduru for the Kumbhabhisheka of Vinayaka Devasthana. Kudru in Kannada means island. This island is located in a serene atmosphere surrounded by paddy fields and palm groves and is made fertile by the river Varahi . The Jagadguru was taken in a procession from the bank of the river to the temple. The Jagadguru observed the beautiful wooden carvings made around the Garbhagraha and appreciated the sculptor. The Jagadguru performed elaborate Puja, Brahma Kalashabhisheka and PunaH Pratishtha of Lord Vinayaka and graced the Guruvandanam Sabha. In the Sabha the devotees submitted the Abhinandana Patra to the Jagadguru and Vidwan Sri Krishnamurthy Bayari talked about the greatness of the Sringeri Jagadguru. Then the Jagadguru gave an elaborate Anugraha Bhashanam highlighting how one should qualify oneself for the Darshan of the God by taking inspiration from highly qualified devotees like Prahlada and Dhruva. The Jagadguru also explained how God guides a devotee. The Jagadguru added that the people of Hattikudru have been worshipping Lord Vinayaka for hundreds of years and have been attaining the grace of the Lord. Praising the efforts of the devotees in renovating the temple and organising the Kumbhabhisheka, the Jagadguru said that the Lord immensely pleased by their devotion, will bless everyone.

  • Just as in this body, the embodied one passes through boyhood, youth, and old age, so does one pass into another body. With reference to this (birth, aging and death), the wise man is not disturbed. Bhagavan Sri Krishna on Significance of God
  • An object continues to be dear as long as one derives pleasure from it and it is detested for the duration that it causes pain. The same object cannot be always liked or disliked. Sometimes, that which is not dear may become dear. Moreover, that which was loveable can turn unpleasant. The Atma, towards which affection never wanes, is always the most beloved. • It is pitiful that when many of us are asked, “who are you?”, The first thought that arises is “I am a Keralite”, or “I am a Punjabi”, etc. The thought that should immediately stem is “I am an Indian”. If people first feel that they are Indians and only then think of divisions, the nation will have great prosperity and the divisive forces will not be operative as they are today.
