Dakshinamnaya Sri Sharada Peetham, Sringeri

West Mambalam (Krupasankari Street)

It was in the year 1977 that Their Holinessess Jagadguru Sri Abhinava Vidya Theertha Mahaswamiji, Sri Mahasannidhanam, and Jagadguru Sri Bharathi Theertha Mahaswamiji, Sri Sannidhanam, first graced Krupashanakari Street in west Mambalam, Chennai. With their benign blessings, it was decided to purchase the land and construct a branch Math, at the premises sanctified by the sacred visit of their Holinesses, comprising temples for Lord Sri Rathnagarbha Ganapathi, Lord Sri Navaneethakrishnar and Goddess Sri Sharadambal along with a prayer hall. Accordingly, the foundation stone for the buildings was laid on February 7, 1979 with the blessings of their Holinesses. The construction of the temples progressed rapidly and during the subsequent Vijaya Yatra of their Holinesses to Chennai in the year 1982, His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Abhinava Vidyatheertha Mahaswamiji declared open the Math premises on 28th January 1982 amidst thousands of devotees and dignitaries. Jagadguru Sri Bharathi Theertha Mahaswamiji performed the consecration of the shrines on the 31st January 1982. 12 years later, His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Bharati Theertha Mahaswamiji yet again performed Kumbabhishekam at the shrines during His Vijaya Yatra to Chennai in the year 1995.

By the bountiful blessings of Their Holinesses, ever since the Kumbhabhishekam of the temples, daily pujas and special utsavas are being conducted at the shrines and are attended by devotees in large numbers. The following are the important functions and festivities celebrated at the temples: Vinayaka Chaturthi, Krishna Jayanthi, Sharan-Navarahtri, Shankara Jayanthi, Aradhana of previous Jagadgurus, Jayanthi of Sri Mahsannidhanam, Vardhanti of Jagadguru Sri Bharathi Theertha Mahaswamiji, Prathistha dina utsava and so on. Functions such as Dharma-Sastha Mandala Puja, Aadi Pooram, Mahadeva Ashtami, Upakarmas, Skanda shashti, Narasimha jayanti, Dhanur Masa Puja, Arudhra darshanam, Vaikuntha Ekadasi, Hanumat Jayanthi, etc are also celebrated in a grand style. This apart, fortnightly Pradosha Puja and monthly Sankata-hara- chaturthi puja and Pournami puja are also conducted. During the special festivities, abhisheka to the deities, pujas, special homas, processions, Veda-parayanas, saptashati-parayana, music concerts and upanyasas by eminent scholars and anna-danams are arranged and a huge number of devotees participate in the functions.

It is our earnest request to all devotees to visit the Math, participate in the celebrations and be the recipients of the divine grace of our Acharyal,  Lord Ratnagarbhaganapathy, Lord Krishna and Goddess Sharadambal.
