With the Blessings of Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahaswamiji, Vishwa Varakari Samsthan conducted Jnaneshwari Parayana saptaham and Akhanda Sankeertana Mela at Sringeri from the 20th to 29th November 2009. The 13th century Saint Sri Jnaneshwar has rendered in exquisite poetry a Marathi translation and exposition of Srimad Bhagavadgita. The Jnaneshwari Parayana Saptaha began on 20th November. The Parayana was performed from 7 AM to 12 noon by chanting the original Gita verse in Sanskrit, followed by the translation and exposition in Jnaneshwari. Geetha Pravachan, Haripat Bhajan and Hari Keertan took place in the evening at Pravachana Mandiram. Under the leadership of Hari Bhakta Parayan Sri Tukaram Ganapati Maharaj, the Adhikari of Vishwa Varakari Samsthan, Akhanda Sankeertana Mela was held from 27th to 29th. Many devotees from all parts of India arrived for attending the Mela and were treated to Harikeertans and Abhang Bhajans by various eminent Bhagavatas.

On 29th November, Jagadguru Sri Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahaswamiji graced the Mela and listened to the soulful rendering of Abhangs of the Maharashtra saints, Jnaneshwar and Tukaram. The Jagadguru blessed the audience with an Anugraha Bhashanam highlighting the importance of Bhagavan Nama and how it protects one who chants it. Sri Tukaram Ganapati Maharaj was awarded the title “Sankeertana Kesari” by the Jagadguru. The CEO and Administrator of the Sringeri Sharada Peetham, Padmashri V.R.Gowrishankar spoke on the occasion and conveyed his immense happiness in conducting such programs with a large participation from the younger generation.
