Vidyatheertha Foundation


Sri Vidyatheertha Foundation was established in the year 1991, with the Blessings of His Holiness Sri Bharathi Theertha Mahaswamigal, Jagadguru Shankaracharya of Dakshinamnaya Sri Sharada Peetham, Sringeri.  This Foundation was established to perpetuate the memory of  Sri Abhinava Vidyatheertha Mahaswamigal, who adorned the sacred Sringeri Sharada Peetham as its 35th Jagadguru.

Ever since its establishment, the Foundation  has been carrying out the following projects as per the directions of His Holiness, the Jagadguru of Sringeri Sri Sharada Peetham.

  1. Publishing books, CDs, DVDs containing the life and teachings of Sri Sringeri Jagadgurus and making these available  at a nominal price.
  2. Conducting inter-school and inter- collegiate competitions to inculcate moral, traditional and patriotic values in students.
  3. Providing financial assistance and scholarships to Veda Pathashalas and students of Vedas and Shastras
  4. Providing scholarships and regulate materials to deserving poor and orphaned students for their school education.  Currently little over hundred students are benefited from this scheme.
  5. Conducting dharmic activities such as religious discourses, bhajans and devotional music concerts.
  6. Support of social causes during natural distress – the foundation was actively engaged in relief operations during the tsunani period.
  7. Honoring of eminent shastric scholars nominated by His Holiness

This Foundation has been carrying out its activities  efficiently with the guidance of Padmashree Sri V.R. Gowrishankar, Administgrator and CEO of Sri Sringeri Sharada Peetham and with the support of persons interested in spreading dharmic values.

All donations to the Foundation are exempted under 80-G of the Indian Income Tax Act.
