It is well known that an inseparable and sacred bond exists between the temple of Sri Rishyashrungeshwara and the Sri Sharada Peetham at Sringeri. Revered as the Deity of Rain, Sri Rishyashrungeshwara is fervently worshipped during times of drought, and through such prayers, people have been blessed with timely rains and prosperity.
Around a hundred years ago, the region of Kigga faced severe tribulations and hardships. In response, the devout residents earnestly prayed to the then 34th Jagadguru of the Sharada Peetham, Sri Chandrashekhara Bharati Mahaswamiji, a Jivanmukta and an unparalleled Tapasvi. Moved by their prayers, the Jagadguru graciously directed that the consecration of Sri Shantamma be performed to the left of Sri Rishyashrungeshwara Swami, and that She be duly worshipped. His Holiness performed the Maha Kumbhabhishekam with His Lotus hands. Thereafter, the region witnessed the alleviation of all its afflictions.
Now, as the centenary of the consecration of Sri Shantamma is being observed, With the blessings of Sringeri Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahasannidhanam, Jagadguru Sri Vidhushekhara Bharati Sannidhanam will be performing the Brahma Kalashabhishekam to Sri Rishyashrungeshwara Swami and Sri Shantamma.
All aastikas are invited to participate in this sacred occasion and receive Guru Devata Anugraha.
