Sri Sharada Sharannavaratri Mahotsava 2026
It is well known that Jagadguru Sri Shankara Bhagavatpadacharya, the incarnation of Lord Paramashiva, took birth at Kalady in Kerala twelve centuries ago, rejuvenated Sanatana Dharma, propagated the Upanishadic philosophy of Advaita by touring across Bharatavarsha and established four Amnaya Peethams in the four directions of the country for the sustained propagation of Dharma. The foremost among the four Peethams, the Dakshinamnaya Sri Sharada Peetham established at Sringeri on the banks of the Tungabhadra has been adorned by an unbroken succession of illustrious Jagadgurus commencing from Sri Adi Shankara Bhagavatpada’s prime disciple, Sri Sureshwaracharya.
Goddess Sri Sharadamba, the divinity of knowledge, shines in full splendour here as the presiding deity, showering Her all-bestowing grace on devotees. Amongst the festivals celebrated at Sringeri, the Sharannavaratri Mahotsava of Goddess Sharadamba is the most important and grandest. His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahaswamiji will be celebrating the Mahotsava of this Parabhava Samvatsara from Ashwayuja Shukla Pratipat 11.10.2026 to Ekadashi 22.10.2026 at Sringeri.
Astikas have the blessed opportunity to participate in various Sevas during Navaratri through the official Seva portal: seva.sringeri.net

Mahaganapati Vakyartha Vidwat Sabha - Parabhava Samvatsara (2026)
The annual Mahaganapati Vakyartha Vidwat Sabha will be conducted at the Sri Sringeri Jagadguru Mahasamsthanam during Bhadrapada Masa. In accordance with the direction of His Holiness Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahaswamiji, the Sabha will be held under the august presidentship of His Holiness Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sri Vidhushekhara Bharati Mahaswamiji. Eminent Shastric scholars from across the country, representing diverse disciplines, will participate in this Vidwat Sabha. In this Parabhava Samvatsara, the Vidwat Sabha is scheduled to be held from September 14 to September 27, 2026, at Narasimha Vana, Sringeri. Shri Pralhad Joshi, Hon’ble Union Minister, Government of India, will attend the concluding programme of the Sri Mahaganapati Vakyartha Vidwat Sabha as the Chief Guest on September 27, 2026.
All aastikas are invited to witness the Sabha and receive the benign blessings of Lord Mahaganapati and the revered Jagadguru Mahaswamiji.
Among the illustrious Acharyas who adorned the sacred Sri Sharada Peetham at Sringeri, 33rd Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sri Sacchidananda Shivabhinava Nrisimha Bharati Mahaswamiji occupies an especially distinguished place in the renaissance of Vaidika Dharma and Shastric learning.
It is owing to the grace of Mahaswamiji that today we have the blessed opportunity to visit Kalady Kshetra, the birthplace of Bhagavatpada Shankaracharya; that we celebrate Shankara Jayanti on Vaishakha Shukla Panchami; and that we have the opportunity to study the complete works of Bhagavatpada.
Sri Mahaganapati Vakyartha Vidwat Sabha was institutionalised by the 33rd Jagadguru as an annual assembly of eminent Shastra Vidwans. Distinguished scholars from across Bharat are invited to participate in the deliberations. The proceedings are conducted entirely in Samskrita, upholding the traditional mode of Shastric discussion. Detailed Vakyartha deliberations are held on selected topics from Vedanta, Mimamsa, Vyakarana and Nyaya Shastras. The Jagadguru inaugurates the Sabha with a scholarly exposition, traditionally in Nyaya Shastra. Sri Jagadguru remains present throughout the sessions, guiding, clarifying and adjudicating the scholarly deliberations. The Sabha thus serves as an important forum for preserving and nurturing the living tradition of profound Shastric scholarship. Among the Vakyartha Sabhas conducted across Bharat, the Sri Mahaganapati Vakyartha Vidwat Sabha at Sringeri occupies a pre-eminent place.

Vyasa Poornima and Chaturmasya Guru Saparya 2026
The Chaturmasya begins on the Poornima (full moon day) in the month of Aashaada. This day is called “Guru Poornima.” This year it falls on Wednesday, July 29, 2026. On this sacred day, worship is offered to Brahma Vidyacharyas – the great luminaries of hoary antiquity, who through their Supreme grace, have bestowed the knowledge of Brahman - Brahma Vidya through a long, continuous and uninterrupted line of Acharyas.
The day is also called “Vyasa Poornima” and the Puja performed is titled “Vyasa Puja”. In our Guru Parampara that originates from Ishwara Himself, Bhagavan Veda Vyasa is held with the highest esteem by all followers of Sanatana Dharma. Bhagavan Veda Vyasa has brought about everyone’s welfare. Brahmarshi Shuka, Sri Gaudapada and Sri Govinda Bhagavatpada kept the light of the Parampara burning. Then came the Great Master, Jagadguru Sri Adi Shankaracharya, who revived Sanatana Dharma and carried its teachings far and wide throughout Bharatavarsha. The Vyasa Poornima and the entire Chaturmasya period are indeed very auspicious occasions to express our gratitude to the entire Guru Parampara and to renew our Guru Bhakti.
Keeping this in mind, to foster Gurubhakti in devotees, as per the direction and blessings of Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sri Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahaswamiji and Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sri Sri Vidhushekhara Bharati Mahaswamiji, all Sanatana Dharma followers are required to organise the Vyasa Puja celebrations in a grand and befitting manner at your respective centres, incorporating the events listed below.
Let us pay our humble tribute to the Brahma Vidya Guruparampara by performing the Gurusaparya Parayana every day throughout the sacred Chaturmasya Vrata period, from 29th July to 27th September 2026 and be the recipients of the blessings of the Jagadguru.
Your Sincerely,
P A Murali
