Under the benign blessings of His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahasannidhanam and His Holiness Jagadguru Sri Vidhushekhara Bharati Sannidhanam, an extraordinary Vedic undertaking, Ekaaki Sampoorna Rigveda Ghana Parayanam, is being conducted at the sacred Dakshinamnaya Sri Sharada Peetham, Sringeri. The parayanam commenced on 31 May 2026 and will continue until 19 July 2026.
Significance of the Rigveda Ghana Patha
The Vedas are not merely religious scriptures but the eternal source of spiritual wisdom and knowledge. Among them, the Rigveda is the most ancient. To preserve the purity of Vedic mantras, various methods of recitation have been developed, of which Ghana Patha is regarded as one of the most rigorous and sophisticated.
In the Ghana method, words are recited in a highly intricate forward-and-reverse sequence, ensuring flawless preservation of every syllable, accent, and intonation. This tradition represents an unparalleled achievement of the oral Vedic heritage.
The Parayanakarta
The parayanam is being performed by Veda Brahma Sri M. Harsha Sharma, a disciple in the revered Vedic lineage nurtured under the guidance of distinguished Ghana Pathis and the Shruti Parampara Gurukulam. This monumental undertaking spans 50 continuous days of dedicated Rigveda Ghana recitation.
Venue and Timings
The recitation is taking place at Narasimha Vana, Sri Sharada Peetham, Sringeri.
