Tungabhadra Arati & Kartika Laksha Deepotsava

From Kartika Shukla Ekadashi to Purnima (November 1 to 5), the Tungabhadra Arati culminating with Laksha Deepotsava was celebrated at Sringeri with grandeur.

Every evening, during the Mahotsava, Teppotsavas of the major deities in the precincts of the Sringeri Math took place. Prior to the commencement of the Teppotsava, 7 Ritwiks performed shodashopachara Puja on the northern banks to the river Goddess with Dhoopa, Deep and Naivedya. At 7 pm, Jagadguru Sri Mahasannidhanam arrived and offered Pushparchana and Mangalarati to the beautiful Murtis of Goddess Sharadamba, Goddess Tungabhadra and Sri Varaha Swamy placed on the southern bank of the river in Narasimha Vanam. 

Immediately afterward, the Teppotsava commenced with the decorated boat carrying the deity. With the boat in front of the Jagadguru, Mangalarati was performed to the deity. As the Teppotsava continued, the Tungabhadra Arati comprising a number of special Aratis by the 7 Ritwiks took place with the Jagadgurus witnessing from the southern bank. 

On November 1, In the morning, Laksha Tulasi Archana was performed to Sri Janardhana Swami and Mangalarati took place in the divine presence of Sri Mahasannidhanam.

On the first evening of the Mahotsava (November 1, Ekadashi), Teppotsava of Sri Janardana Swami took place in the divine presence of Sri Mahasannidhanam. 

On November 2, Teppotsava of Sri Shankaracharya took place in the divine presence of Sri Mahasannidhanam. Earlier in the day, a special Puja (Shata Rudra Abhisheka) was performed at the Sri Adi Shankaracharya Sannidhi.

At Narasimhapura, as part of the Kartika Laksha Deepotsava, Poornahuti of Dhatri homa took place in the morning and in the evening, deepotsava took place at Sri Lakshminarasimha Sannidhi and other shrines.

On November 3, Teppotsava of Sri Uma Maheshwara, Sri Shakti Ganapati and Sri Subrahmanya Swami took place in the Jagadguru’s divine presence.

On November 4, special Puja with Laksha Mallika Archana was performed to Sri Sharadamba with Teppotsava of Sri Sharadamba taking place in the evening in the Jagadguru’s divine presence. 

On November 5, Kartika Purnima, Purnahuti of Maharudra Homa took place in the divine presence of Jagadguru Sri Sannidhanam in the morning and in the evening, Laksha Bilvarchana was performed to Lord Malahanikareshwara. Late in the evening, Mahamangalarati was performed at 6 pm in the divine presence of Jagadguru Sri Mahasannidhanam. Then Krittikotsava and Jwala Torana were performed. Laksha Deepotsava was also held with Sri Sannidhanam commencing the event by lighting the ceremonial lamp in front of the Malahanikareshwara temple. Devotees lit numerous deepas along the path from Ishwaraigiri to the Sringeri Rajagopuram and within the sacred precincts of the Math. The Utsava Murtis of Goddess Bhavani and Malahanikareshwara were carried in a procession. Golden Rathotsava of Goddess Sharadamba took place inside the Sharadamba temple in the divine presence of Sri Sannidhanam. 

At night after the Sri Sharada Chandramoulishwara Puja, Sri Mahasannidhanam and Sri Sannidhanam graced the Tungabhadra Arati and Teppotsava of the Utsava Murtis of Goddess Sharadamba along with those of Sri Bhavani, Sri Malahanikareshwara, Sri Adi Shankaracharya and Sri Vidyashankara.
