On May 3rd, the Jagadguru released the book, “Selected Historical Records from the Kadatas of the Sringeri Math – Volume 2” in Kannada. This book published by Karnataka State Archives has been compiled from ancient cloth manuscripts (Kadatas) of the Sringeri Math by Dr. A.K.Shastri. Volume 1 released a few years ago at Sringeri contained contains the letters and descriptions of the relation and reverence that various kingdoms and rulers, such as the Vijayanagar, Keladi, Mysore, Marathas, the British Commissioners had with the Sringeri Math. Volume 2 released in Bangalore by the Jagadguru contains records of donations made to the Math, the judicial and administrative rights accorded to the Math, a description of the temples of Sringeri besides other historic information from the 14th to 19th century CE.
