With the blessings of Jagadguru Shankaracharya Sri Sri Bharati Tirtha Mahasannidhanam, Jagadguru Sri Sri Vidhushekhara Bharati Sannidhanam, as part of the Karnataka - Kerala Vijaya Yatra, departed from Sringeri in the late afternoon and arrived at the Sri Mahalingeshwara Mahaganapati Temple, Padubidri in the evening and had darshan of Sri Mahalingeshwara Swami and Mahaganapati. Later, Sri Sannidhanam graced the sabha, delivered an Anugraha Bhashanam and blessed all the assembled devotees.
In the Anurgarha Bhashanam, Sri Sannidhanam explained how one should cultivate Bhagavad Bhakti. He narrated the example of a devotee who, though blind, would regularly visit the temple and return home with a deep sense of contentment. This had been his practice for many years.
One day, another devotee asked him, “Why do you go to the temple, and how do you experience such contentment? Being blind, you cannot see Bhagavan. We, who have sight, behold Bhagavan, admire His alankara, and feel joy. What, then, is the source of your contentment?”
The blind devotee replied, “It is true that I cannot see Bhagavan, as I lack physical vision. However, Bhagavan can see me. It is this thought that fills me with contentment, for I know that Bhagavan has seen me.”
Sri Sannidhanam instructed that everyone should cultivate such devotion and approach the temple with the conviction that Bhagavan will grace them with His divine glance and bestow His blessings. He further emphasized that it is not sufficient merely to visit the temple and say, “I had darshan.” Rather, one must develop the depth of devotion that inspires the awareness that Bhagavan truly graces us with His divine glance.
To illustrate this, he offered a comparison: consider the difference in satisfaction between meeting a prime minister and returning, and meeting the prime minister who not only sees but also recognizes you. The latter brings a far deeper sense of fulfillment. It was this elevated state of contentment that the blind devotee consistently experienced.
